Today, graphic design is not just a work of art, but a means of visual communication. From brand logos to application interfaces that we notice and use daily, it’s an integral part of our digital and physical world. Therefore, it’s important for companies to establish effective visual communication with their target audience and deliver their main message to users in an interesting way.

If you’re interested in how you can create the best user experience through graphic images, check out this blog. Tamuna Budagashvili, a Commschool lecturer, talks about her profession and experience.

Tamuna has been drawing since childhood and always wanted her future profession to be related to drawing and art. Her dream was to have the opportunity to study at the Academy of Arts. The Faculty of Media Arts showed her many ways where she could do many other things along with drawing. Tamuna studied animation, but ultimately continued her work in graphic design and illustration.

Tamuna’s journey in the art world turned out to be quite diverse. Animation, photography, video, Motion Design, UI/UX design, Art Direction, Editorial Design (in the direction of magazines). Since she loved writing, she also tried copywriting, which was reflected in her last project – she managed to combine her love for writing and drawing and create the most memorable and important moments. Currently, Tamuna holds the position of lead designer in a foreign company and works with her own team.

“Sometimes people think that drawing and design is an easy thing. But like any other job, it requires work, time, involvement, and research. So be sure to value your time.”

Profession – Graphic Designer As Tamuna recalls, she was initially very confused until she understood what graphic design meant. However, this gradually became a challenge for her. According to her, the main task of a graphic designer is to provide people with aesthetically processed information. That’s why, in Tamuna’s opinion, sometimes good design even sells a bad product.

“If you have a strong desire, you can even overcome what seems impossible to you.”

Tamuna considers determination as the main skill needed for a graphic designer. It’s important to have willpower too – this will help you repeat the same manipulation several times until you achieve the best result. Observing the environment is always a good source of inspiration. Tamuna uses several other platforms in the creative process:

  • Instagram;
  • Artstation – for illustration and digital painting;
  • Pinterest – where it’s possible to find inspiration and aesthetics for everything;
  • It’s Nice That – to get acquainted with modern trends.

Career Path and Opportunities Graphic design has many directions. This can be branding, photo manipulation, printing design, posters, packaging, or typography. Therefore, this field provides many opportunities and the career path is quite interesting and diverse. Tamuna notes that the Commschool course includes basic knowledge, after which students will understand which direction is interesting for them.

“Year after year, more and more people have a desire to learn graphic design, which naturally increases competition. This is intensified by the active entry of artificial intelligence, but human resources will always be needed. That’s why the most important thing is to work on yourself and develop, which makes a noticeable difference in the portfolio.”

The field of graphic design will also give you the opportunity to work remotely. In Tamuna’s case, this is one of the great benefits. She works from home and has a very flexible schedule, which makes her workdays stress-free and leaves her with a lot of free time. This is when she is most productive and has better results in terms of time management.

Graphic Design: About the Course Regarding the graphic design course, Tamuna says she will try to share her 10+ years of experience and accumulated knowledge with students. Taking the course will be a challenge for all students, especially for those who have decided to become graphic designers. The program will also interest those who have contact with social media and content, photographers, startup or business owners who want to package their own product themselves; or even those who want to turn their child’s drawings into digital posters. At the same time, Tamuna herself expects to learn a lot from students – she will look at many things differently and this will be a great challenge for her as well.

“It’s very natural to have technical problems, especially for those who are using graphic programs for the first time. You may have a well-formed idea, but technically you can’t handle it. This is exactly what this course will help us with – let’s learn the language of graphic programs so that in the future, learning videos found on different platforms will be completely understandable to everyone.”

If you’re also interested in this program, I’ll tell you that during the course you’ll learn to use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, to technically, stylistically, and content-wise set up design, create visuals for brands, and properly plan design projects. The practice-based teaching method will give you the opportunity to gain significant experience. In addition, you will receive career support from Commschool – based on the results of the final project, the best graduate will undergo a guaranteed internship at one of the partner creative agencies.

So, if you’re ready to travel in the creative world, you should definitely take advantage of this opportunity. Join us at Commschool!

Artificial Intelligence has become an integral part of the modern manager's role. Therefore, the better we understand what language to use and how to communicate with artificial intelligence, the easier it becomes to integrate it into our daily lives. Most importantly, artificial intelligence enables efficient time use and helps avoid routine tasks. Throughout the lectures, we will study how to use popular AI systems such as ChatGPT, Claude.ai, and Gemini. Working on practical assignments and the final project will help us gain in-depth knowledge about using AI tools and 'taming' them to our needs.
