In the field of design, talent and creative skills are no longer enough to start or develop a freelance career. The real challenges begin when you seem to have all the necessary technical skills, but don't know how to create a budget and timeline, build a portfolio, have an individual niche, and most importantly, position yourself correctly in the market. Competition is very high, and working independently is even more difficult. In these conditions, information about illustrator compensation is quite vague. The Sense of (Freelance) Illustration crash course is a guide to overcoming these challenges, based on Anano's personal experience gained over the years.
During the course, participants will go through the full cycle of creating an illustration - including finding inspiration, analyzing briefs, drawing and refining sketches. Most importantly, they will be able to work on projects/exercises based on the brief, which will help them overcome the fear of a blank page when put into practice.
The course will be led by freelance illustrator Anano Miminoshvili. Her portfolio includes up to 200 freelance projects and clients such as The New York Times, Chanel, BAFTA, FILA, Adobe, Meta, Airbnb, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The Hollywood Reporter, and many others.
The meetings will be hosted at Stamba Hotel.

Show MoreWhat is Stable Diffusion and How is it Used in Graphic Design?
Stable Diffusion is a deep learning tool created by Stability AI in 2022 that transforms text into photographs. More specifically, it generates a detailed description of an image provided by the user. It can also be used for graphic processing of existing photographs. This tool is accessible to everyone. This program is constantly evolving and its capabilities are improving - the photographs generated based on text are becoming more and more realistic. In this blog, I'll tell you how Stable Diffusion works, what possibilities it offers for designers, and what limitations it has. The Importance of Stable Diffusion Stable Diffusion is public and accessible to anyone. You can easily download and use it on various devices. Thus, it's no longer necessary to use large technological platforms to conduct experiments and create art samples with the help of artificial intelligence. How Does Stable Diffusion Work? Stable Diffusion uses a convolutional autoencoder network with an embedded transformer-based encoding system. Manipulations on photographs are done using Gaussian noise. The generation process looks like this: the encoder takes an image X and encodes it into a latent vector. Then Gaussian noise is added to it, which changes the existing vector. Next, the vector is decoded. The decoder tries to remove the Gaussian noise and restore the original image X. When encoding text, the program transforms the provided text into a latent description, which is then linked together and transformed into the corresponding dimension. As a result, it becomes possible to create a relevant photograph based on the text. In the process of creating samples, the vector feeds the decoder, which removes noise from each of them. This way, the quality of the photograph increases and its resolution becomes 1024×1024. What Capabilities Does Stable Diffusion Have? This program can create new photographs based on the text provided to it. It includes a description of what elements the photograph should consist of. It's also possible to recreate existing photographs and add described elements. This process is called "guided photo synthesis". The program allows you to combine elements of two or more photographs into one photo. Examples of Using Stable Diffusion Due to its versatile capabilities, you'll encounter this program in many fields:Digital Media: It's actively used to create sketches, illustrations, or storyboards. It enables cost reduction in the content creation process. Product Design: Fashion designers use the program to create new prints, silhouettes, or color variations. They describe an imaginary product and create its 3D models. This accelerates the early stages of idea formation. Marketing and Advertising: Marketers use the program to create product photographs, life scenes, and social media posts. AI-generated photos reduce photography costs and provide unlimited content production. Science and Medicine: Researchers provide AI with detailed descriptions of chemical compounds, genomes, molecules, and diseases to visualize data and models. This helps them discover new scientific conclusions. In medicine, it's used to recognize patient diseases and plan treatment stages. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gradually establishing itself in every field, helping people solve simple tasks quickly, allowing them to use their time more effectively. As a result, knowledge of AI tools has become one of the most important and necessary skills in the labor market. AI has also entered the creative field, offering intriguing opportunities in graphic design by reducing the time spent on labor-intensive and routine tasks, thus giving more time for creative thinking. Given these trends, we’ve developed a new course at Commschool—AI in Graphic Design—led by Joni Kvezereli. Check out the blog and discover the prospects for integrating artificial intelligence into graphic design. Joni's career started in film directing—he has always been interested in visual work and observing how art affects people. His first work experience was in an advertising agency, where he learned more about how to consider customer needs and desires and realize ideas. Seeking more independence and creative freedom, Joni began freelancing. This path gave him the opportunity to work on various projects, helping him refine his skills and develop his unique style. Later, Joni’s interest shifted toward graphic design. Since childhood, he has been fascinated by visual art and its creative processes. He was always drawing, creating, and searching for new ways to better express his ideas. Currently, he works at Redberry, while also pursuing his passion for using AI in visual art. AI in Everyday Work Since primitive models for generating visuals first appeared on the market around 2018-2019, the use of AI has become part of Joni’s daily work. As children, we all probably dreamed of abstract tools that would allow us to easily bring our ideas or visual concepts to paper. This childhood dream became a reality when I first generated an image that was 200 by 200 pixels. It was almost impossible to make out what was depicted, but it was clear that, with a bit more refinement, these tools would become far more important than they first appeared. Joni started by using Stable Diffusion and other AI tools that allowed for the automatic generation and modification of visual materials. Initially, it was just an attempt to understand how these technologies could be used in design. Over time, he noticed that AI tools not only simplified the work process but significantly improved results, leaving more time for creative thinking. He successfully applied AI in a particularly interesting Georgian project. Joni created the first AI-generated postage stamp for Georgian Post using Stable Diffusion. The challenge of the project was to synthesize existing visuals to create something new, a task that is difficult even with the tools available on the market. AI in Graphic Design 8 Lectures | 24 Hours | 4 Weeks syllabus Reddit is one of the best places where I read about AI technologies and participate in discussions. From there, I often get important information that helps me understand how others are using AI technologies and how I can apply these approaches in my work process. YouTube, Pinterest, Behance, Reddit—these are the platforms Joni turns to for inspiration. He believes that there are limitless resources around us that we sometimes fail to see. The sources of inspiration are boundless if you search for them properly. It’s important to seek references everywhere—in museums, nature, architecture, and everyday life. Why AI in Graphic Design Has Become Necessary As Joni notes, the need to use AI in graphic design arose for several key reasons:Time and Efficiency: Design processes often require a lot of time and effort, especially for detailed work. AI tools automate these processes, allowing designers to save time and resources and complete tasks more efficiently.Improved Quality: AI enables the creation of visual materials with higher quality. AI technologies ensure the production of precise and detailed works, increasing the professionalism and quality of designers' output.Expanded Creativity: AI tools allow designers to create new and unique visual ideas that might be difficult or labor-intensive using traditional methods, especially during brainstorming when testing every possible option. This enhances designers' creativity and innovation.Inspiration Source: AI can generate a variety of visual content, providing designers with inspiration and ideas for new projects. These technologies help discover new styles and techniques. It’s important to remember that AI is a tool that, without our ideas, is just empty code. Therefore, learning design principles and mastering working methods is essential for choosing the right tools. AI Tools in Graphic Design One of the leading tools in the field of generative AI is Stable Diffusion, which has various functions. Stable Diffusion allows for the creation of high-quality and detailed visual images and patterns, offering an unlimited degree of control over the visuals that other AI tools do not provide. It can process both photos and graphic images, standing out for its fast and efficient algorithms that facilitate process automation and optimization. It’s best to start using Stable Diffusion by learning its basic functions and practical examples. To use this tool effectively, you need to understand its interface and capabilities. Since Stable Diffusion is a versatile and flexible tool, you can begin with basic features like image generation, quality enhancement, concept creation, manipulation, and more. AI tools give designers the opportunity to try new techniques and styles, which enhances their professional development and creativity. By simplifying collaborative opportunities, AI facilitates teamwork, leading to more diverse and innovative work. Thus, AI tools not only do not limit but significantly enhance designers’ creativity, raising their work to a higher level. AI tools truly boost designers' creativity. First and foremost, by automating tasks, they save time and resources, allowing designers to dedicate more energy to the creative process. AI technologies also provide sources of inspiration, generating unique ideas and encouraging the discovery of new directions. They make it easier to complete complex and challenging tasks, enabling designers to take on more ambitious projects. AI in Graphic Design - About the Course As mentioned, at Commschool you can discover a new course that will serve as a guide for graphic designers on how to incorporate AI into their work. According to Joni, the course will be highly practical and intensive, helping students acquire the skills to use AI technologies in graphic design. The program includes both theoretical and practical parts, allowing participants to apply the theoretical foundations to real projects. Throughout the course, you will be introduced to the basic theoretical concepts of AI and graphic design. "It doesn't matter how big your budget is, because the goal of spending effectively remains unchanged"
When marketing is mentioned, most of us imagine people caught up in the whirlwind of planning creative campaigns and advertisements; here also arises the question - then what is marketing? Apparently, marketing doesn't just mean creating "catchy" ads and staying up all night on the shooting set. Sulkhan Latsabidze, a lecturer in the Marketing Management course, will share his different experience throughout the program. Sulkhan gained many years of experience in various companies: Aldagi, Bank Republic, Beeline, Georgian Lottery Company, Caucasus Online, Wissol, Geocell - this is an incomplete list of companies for which Sulkhan has worked in marketing and/or sales. For him, marketing means regular debate with the consumer, "getting on their nerves," i.e., constantly being in their field of vision. In his opinion, regardless of the budget size, the main thing is to somehow regularly attract the consumer's attention, and for this, heavy or long-term communications are not necessary at all. "The main component of a marketing campaign is not a creatively planned campaign and/or beautiful advertisement, but it's important to correctly determine your resource and decide what you can do based on it." This is precisely why Sulkhan considers finances, Excel, and numbers as direct marketing tools. According to him, it doesn't matter what product you have to work on; the main thing is to adapt as quickly as possible and adapt your previous experience to the new product. It also doesn't matter how big your budget is, because the goal of spending effectively remains unchanged. However, before it comes to planning and conducting campaigns, as he says, it's most important to create a marketing department and set up its structure: "First you need to set up the conveyor; only then can you start doing something."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zagq22PIP4A As we understand, a large part of the Marketing Management course is based on practical training, Sulkhan will share his diverse challenges and cases. Until then, we'll share the assessments of graduates: "ძალიან საინტერესო და სასიამოვნო პროცესია ლექტორთან გამოცდილების და აზრების გაცვლა. Head Of Marketing & PR Department at Enterprise Georgia "კურსმა ნამდვილად გადააჭარბა ჩემს მოლოდინებს იმ კუთხით, რომ პირველივე ლექციებიდან მივხვდი როგორ გავიზარდე და ძალიან ბევრი განხილული საკითხი რეალურად გამოვიყენე პრაქტიკულ საქმიანობაში, განსაკუთრებით ტექნიკური “down to earth” საკითხები, ბიუჯეტური და მენეჯერული მიდგომები." თათია ჯიქიაMarketing Manager at MarTV Previous Next Within the course, you will be taught how to write and spend a budget, when it's optimal to rely directly on Excel and when you can "have fun" with creativity, how to interact with a creative agency, how it's better to launch different products, how to evaluate the effectiveness of a conducted campaign, etc.You will be interested in the course if you are marketing managers working in any field, account or brand managers, as well as marketing directors and, in general, anyone who wants to learn more about the practical side of marketing.
